Peter A. Rose is a graduate of the Huddersfield School of Music, where he studied with Ron Gould, he later carried on studying in London with Harry Danks. He was Principal Viola with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, and has freelanced with Orchestra da Camera, East of England Orchestra, English pro Musica, Heart of England Orchestra, and the New Symphony Orchestra of London.

He has taught as a LEA peripatetic teacher of viola/violin for over 30 years in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Leicestershire. He was visiting tutor of viola/violin for over 20 years at Loughborough University.
